The scenery is made for relaxing. Just some images to cool your spirit.
I was a guest of Carolyn and Michael, from Carolyn’s Shade Gardens, to Cliff Island off the scenic coast of Maine.
It was a most enjoyable time, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to visit such a beautiful place. In fact, we visited many places, most of which I will show on Garden Walk Garden Talk. I want to thank both Carolyn and Michael for their hospitality. You will see the many places that Carolyn and I went during the eight days of my visit but…
I just got back in town and have mounds of work that I must get to this coming week.
I hope you are enjoying the Chanticleer series on GWGT, and I will be getting back to posting and visiting shortly. It is a twelve part series and the post Chanticleer Six in Twelve The Ruins is halfway through the series.
The gulls were plentiful, and I was surprised at how many varieties of gulls were present. Many other sea birds were photographed, but I thought I would do a post on gulls in their natural habitat, where food is plentiful and skies are blue.
The cliffs make good nesting grounds for the coastal birds.
The landscape is very colorful and I will show the varying textures of this landscape coming up.
The contrast is really wonderful and visually exciting.
Most days, the skies were vibrant blue, and cloudless, but for the day above, the white clouds decorated the sky.
The blue skies gave way to deep, colorful sunsets. Stay tuned, much to come.
I feel like I was there. Hey, that’s right, I was there. I am glad we gave you the opportunity to continue your seagull obsession and introduced you to some new species. We saw porpoises again this morning.
Hi Carolyn! I was to your site four times today to copy the link and it did not post on the blog post. I think I got it now. I also left your link at Brain’s site. Remember, he is the one in the Bay of Fundy. I told him, since he is pretty close, that maybe next year we will take a boat ride to see him and his beautiful area.
Your visit looks idyllic. I hope you had a restful time.
I did have a wonderful time, but we were on the go each day. There is so much to see and do.
I was wondering if you all vacationed together. You were right in the area of where I am from. Lovely sights of Maine that I so love and so miss now living in Tennessee.
What a coincidence you are from this area! It was still hot in Maine, but each evening was very comfortable. That is what was different from here in NY.
Have always wanted to go to Maine and it will be on my list of places to visit for sure…the colors, the textures, the sky…all beautiful…and what wonderful company too!!
You have a growing list, Donna. There are so many places worth seeing, but not much time. I follow a blog from GWGT called Victor’s Travel Blog. Today his post is from Cambodia. http://victortravelblog.com/2012/07/18/excursion-sihanoukville-cambodia/. You should have a look for places to go. I travel the world with Victor. His photos are amazing too.
Looks like a wonderful place to find relaxation and inspiration! I am looking forward to reading all your posts but I am on the road for another week and have not had the opportunity to sit down and spend much time on the blog network. Love all your shots of the seagulls. There are lots of them on the Lake Michigan coast too and I have had fun photographing them. They are so amusing!
Stay safe Karin! Hope you are having a great time.
Wonderful pictures as always. It’s nice to see the sea for a change 🙂 The picture of the seagull with freshly caught food in its beak is brilliant. They always go by so slow and graceful but I never manage to catch them on camera nonetheless.
Crabs are everywhere and the gulls have easy pick’ins. The gull with the crab was actually flying fast and pretty far out in the water. I had on a 300mm lens, so I zoomed in. The gulls here in the Falls are pretty slow and lazy. They beg for food from tourists or outright steal it.
The “portland public landing” photo is my favourite.
Too bad I did not get more of that sign!
Gorgeous photos! I can imagine you had a fabulous time, sharing such spectacular scenery with another garden blogger. The public landing photo gave me a smile!
Thanks Deb. I too noticed that seagulls can read.
Beautiful blue hues. Loved the shots of the sky and seas.
